Facebook mini games!

Facebook mini-games!

I saw a fan page recently doing all sorts of mini games on their Facebook page so I tried it today on ours. It went well, actually. To be honest I didn't think anyone would participate so I'm chauffed quite a few of you did! We did go up 6 likes, but quickly went down 6 likes; so if I was going to do it next time it'd probably be we'd have to have a certain amount of likes for a game. Considering it was bank holiday too made it more worthwhile as you could've been with family but decided to play a game with us! Unlikers really bother me as it takes ages for likes to build up and they quickly demolish. In my mind I always think whats the point? But hey some of our posts went 'viral' which was quite an interesting prospect.

The games were quite fun to host- I got a bit too excited by misspelling one of the rounds! On the other fan page they did prizes like edits of favourite characters, chibi's and various other graphics. I'm still new to graphics so mine were test runs! Some people were expecting real prizes but I did state they would be graphics. Although I may post discount codes for my shop. (http://www.districtlines.com/xxxfashionqueenxxx1) Just cos I can :)

Would love to receive your feedback on the games. They're just there to connect with the Stylista's more and liven up the Facebook page. If you're a new Stylista remember to like us at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ArrayOStyle/228560717199975?ref=hl

Easter nail art!

Easter nail art!

Pastel polka-dots are perfect for the Spring time. As Easter means new life, why not give those crooked nails a new lease of life? You can do polka dots with any colours but as it's Easter I'm choosing pastels. Pastels have also been seen at the KCA's and various fashion shows at fashion week. Maybe mix it up with pastels and glitter varnish :) Whatever you feel like. I'm sure your nails will look hopping :)

For this tutorial you will need:

  • Nail varnish (obviously!)
  • Dotting tools or a bobby pin would work in the same way (if you pull it into halves)
  • Nail art brush
  • Clear nail varnish
  • Nail varnish remover (optional)
  • Cotton pads (optional but always handy for mistakes)
Method:
Models_own_easter_nail_art
  1. Starting with the polka dot nails- do these on the alternate nails (or you can change it up, I'm just showing as a guide). Using your dotting tool (or bobby pin/hair grip) you can start with 4/5 dots down the centre of the nail. Then place the dots vertically either side of this line.
  2. Next for the nails left in the gaps, your nails will hatch :) Paint two squiggly horizontal lines (using the nail art brush which is like a mini paint brush for nails). If these go wrong always keep nail varnish remover and cotton pads next to you!
  3. Now, use the dotting tool to place a row of dots in between the two squiggly lines.
  4. Finally, apply a clear coat over the nails, or go for glitter to accentuate your eggs. Making the nails good enough to eat :)

Recipe: Chocolate Egg Nests

Schools out scream and shout!

And it's not just any half term- it's Easter half term. Time to pig out then burn it off quickly before anyone's noticed! With tomorrow being Good Friday; everyone has a day off before the big Easter weekend. Gives plenty of time to release the inner Nigella in all of us. Or Mary Berry. Chocolate Easter nests are delicious and easy to make- with not much actual cooking involved. Here's the recipe and enjoy :) It makes 12, make sure you get plenty for the hard work!
You will need:

  • 200g milk chocolate (or enough to cover the cereal)
  • 5 Shredded wheat
  • 36 Cadbury Mini Eggs
  • Cake cases
  • 12-hole bun tin (Optional you can do this without one)
  • Heatproof bowl
Method:
  1. Place 12 cake cases in a 12-hole bun tin, or any other baking trays you have. Set aside
  2. Break the chocolate into equal squares and place in a heatproof bowl. You can melt the chocolate by either microwaving- by checking the chocolate every 20 seconds and stirring. Or by melting over a pan of simmering water, stirring until the chocolate is smooth and melted.
  3. Crumble the shredded wheat into the bowl with melted chocolate. Make sure the pieces are small and even. Next, coat the shredded wheat. Spoon into cake cases and use a teaspoon to mould into shape. You want a dip in the middle for the mini eggs to sit in.
  4. Places 3 mini eggs in each nest and chill in the fridge until set. Enjoy :)

KCA 2013

Didn't watch the Kids Choice Awards last night- but apparently Nickelodeon disowned their own band or something? Rumours around school today. Another awards ceremony= more red carpet looks to admire. My favourite is Zendaya's look although the others are really cute! I don't really like Kylie's and I'm wondering where Kendall was too.
Comment below who your favourite is!

Promstars

Promsters

The prom theme isn't deliberate this week- just taking the content as it comes. Ever wondered what models wore to prom? Well to the models who weren't working during prom.

Kelly Mittendorf

I love Kelly and she favourited my tweet not so long ago! So Kelly if you're reading, we love you! Kelly is the one in the 'Little black dress' on the right; already posing for the camera! "For my senior prom, I went stag in a group with some of my closest friends. I happened to randomly find my dress in a thrift store, and my older sister made me try it on just for fun. It wound up being perfect! It was formal-looking, but short and young! I loved the lead-up to prom—being able to go shopping with my friends, the planning of our pre-prom dinner, and everything right up until we all took photos together. It was nice to let loose and enjoy ourselves!" The 5ft10 beauty now models prom dresses!
Karlie Kloss

The Kloss towered over her prom date at her prom! But the date is obviously smitten with Karlie as a date. Bless they're both grinning. Young love. I wonder if that changed when she got famous? The newest Victoria's Secret Angel chose orange for her prom dress; good job she wasn't wearing orange fake tan. That would've been awkward. Now with her short hair- she hasn't changed much! "It was special to be able to wear dresses fresh off the runway to my high school dances! Everyone else would have similar dresses from various local boutiques and department stores, and I would have one-of-a-kind creations. Even though nobody else ever knew who or what I was wearing, I did, and it always made me feel like a princess."

Jacquelyn Jablonski

The runway star looks simple yet understated, going for a 'Little white dress' to prom. Standing next to her sister, they do look very similar don't they? "I chose a white BCBG dress. I decided on white because I had worn a mint green dress the year before and felt like everyone wears color. Also, I could accessorize more with white—I wore my mom's big vintage necklace. One of my favorite prom memories was having my sister with me! She is two years younger than me, but she was invited to my senior prom, so we were able to enjoy the experience together. A not-so-favorite memory of the night was my date leaving me early at the dance!"

Tyra love

In love with this photo, I mean the styling is fab. That dress ;]

Worldwide

Just been going through my viewer stats. It turns out Australia is now my top traffic source, then the USA. No surprise really; the USA is always in the top spots. Then Germany which rarely comes up as top. UK is after these. So interesting to see the content I write goes to really exotic places! I'm assuming it's due to being published in an Australian magazine- but I haven't been published in any German magazines. Yet. If you're reading why not comment with where you're from. Very interesting stuff :)
I don't really know anyone in Australia- which is a shame as I'd love to go over. Wouldn't it be interesting walking around and guessing who reads ArrayO'Style. However, one of my classmates is German so might get her to play that game when she's in Germany!

More Cara!

On Monday I did a post on Cara's photos, shot by Karl. There were only 2; but more have been released. Enjoy Cara fans :)

New VS Angel

Meet the newest Victoria's Secret angel *drum roll*.......
KARLIE KLOSS!

The American model (with too many campaigns to count) under her cinched-in belt, has recently been given her 'angel wings'. Kloss (Love her name!) had her runway debut last year and is joining icons such as Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. Apparently Ale's contract is ending this year so it's likely Karlie is replacing her.

After her Karlie crop cut, she is now the only short-haired VS angel. But, she isn't the only VS angel to make the jump from high fashion to commercial modeling. Like Gisele Bündchen. This has caused a controversy amongst VS fans < already taking to Tumblr to voice their opinions. In my opinion, I like Karlie looks wise and I haven't heard anything negative for her. I'd like to say congrats to the VS job as it's okay to do high fashion. But commercial modeling pays more. So if she can do both and get paid in commercial- let her do it :) However, her assets are a little small for modeling lingerie. With VS they're models cause a bigger buzz than the products.
Karlie is only 20- therefore the youngest angel.

Would love to hear your views in the comments :)

Karl Lagerfeld shoots Cara Delevingne (not literally) for Melissa Magazine

Good ol' Karl has shot many famous supermodels during their careers, next to join the list is 'It girl' Cara D. I haven't really mentioned Cara on my blog yet- mainly because I haven't formed an opinion on her yet (cue abuse from Cara fans). The pair released a teaser video entitled 'Cara V Karl' and it's implying that we're likely to see more work from the pair in the forthcoming weeks. The project is in the magazine's ninth issue and is a hit in Brazil- boasting a 300,000 circulation there. The mag collaborates with Karl throughout this issue for a mammoth 30 pages. Just to clarify Melissa is a shoe firm with it's own in house magazine. Karl has collaborated with Melissa for four seasons. Cara D (so much easier to nickname her this as I always manage to spell her surname incorrectly) models styles from the first collection; including one popped on her head. One Mary Jane incorporates the colours of the Brazilian flag, while a black pump boasts heel decoration resembling an ice cream cone. There's only two photos released (as of yet)...

Gold dip DIY

DIY Gold-dipped shoes tutorial

So last week I did the kitty cats on your flats. But if you've still got more pumps to spare, or didn't fancy a cat on your shoe- why not go for a chic gold finish?

You will need:

  • Ballet flats/pumps or any other shoe which needs a boast :)
  • Tape
  • Gold spray paint
  • Plastic bags
  • Newspaper (optional)
Method:
  1. Choose your pair of shoes to give their mojo back and put some newspaper down on the floor/surface you are working on.
  2. If you have any bows on your pumps (or anything else decorative) using scissors, cut them off.
  3. Next, tape off your shoe 2-3 inches from the top. Plastic bags can be used to cover the rest of the soles. Now spray away. One coat may not be enough, try 2 or 3 coats.
  4. Allow 15 minutes drying time then unravel the tape off your new shoes!
  5. Repeat to the other shoe. If you have any different coloured spray paints- feel free to experiment.
So if you can't afford those new designer heels, I gurantee these are so much cheaper to do. How proud would you be if you said 'Oh I didn't buy them, made it myself' :)

Supplies:

Today was interesting. Injection day. I swear this always happens in school. I may not be a drama queen on the outside, but on the inside I'm secretly wetting myself at the thought of things. Like injections and exams. It's always, walk in relaxed and chilled about it. Not necessarily wanting to speak about it (thus making the thought worse). It's like a jungle in school. Everyone's going ballistic at the thought of it. The Mexican wave effect I like to call it. Now you're a bit twitchy at the thought of it. Sounding familiar? Anyway, when I actually got into the room I did start to feel sick. Sadly, if I was sick my mum would probably be at work so I'd be left at school. I'd probably get an extra dose of the jab. The lady started talking to me about the summer holidays (hurry up summer!) and asked where are you going. I replied with 'Sp' and paused. Then over- exaggerated the 'PAINNN' sound afterwards. Okay I didn't scream. But there was an awkward part where I did feel the Pain in Spain. As I walked out of the classroom, I sauntered past the quivering teenagers awaiting their jabs. What did I do? Held my arm tightly  acting like it did put the Pain in Spain. When really it was the ice in Iceland.  Quite funny when you see the boys do the whole 'I'm manly, a little injection is no match for my manliness' then they sit in the waiting room and look as if they want Mummy to come and collect them. Turns out one of the 'bad boys' who smoke and what not did actually get their mum to pick them up. Ooosh.

Have been a tad uninspired lately, therefore not many posts. But I shall be posting more frequently this week.
Hasta la vista Stylista's!

Monday 11th March

Hi Stylista's!

Thank you to Michelle Hicks and Ellie Walker (who was going to say the same thing bless her!) for the new fan name. Now, if you read ArrayO'Style you're officially a Stylista. Loving it. Loving the Stylista's. Asta la vista Stylista's. See it works? That HAS to go on a t-shirt. Speaking of t-shirts, check out http://www.districtlines.com/xxxfashionqueenxxx1 there's discounts on most items but tomorrow I'll be working on designing the S/S 2013 line. Great stuff.

Why am I posting? Just an update as the posts haven't really been written as they are normally. I know excuses, excuses. I did miss most of fashion week too... :( This week I should start recapping them, maybe I'll do a video? I tried it before but might work...

Anyway. Besides the boring shizzle. What happens when Mum decides to go on a rollercoaster? Long story short, as it was Mother's day yesterday (Hope any mums had a lovely day, daughters hope you bought good pressies!). Our theme park did a 'Bring your Mum for free entry' thing. Our family being bargain hunters (apart from me, hence some of the stuff in my room) went. This was when it was supposedly the hottest day of the year so far, look what it's like today. A blizzard, then it takes a break for 10 minutes, then back again. And it's always when you're outside that it starts again. Eh typical British weather. Bet the Australian Stylista's are thinking 'Phew we're just chilling here tanning, it's probably 100 degrees. In your face Brits!' I would be, lul. Yeah, so I convinced my Mum to go on the fastest ride there. She was feeling very 'daredevil' today- I wasn't being mean! So I went on it, despite being a bit anxious myself. I soon wish I didn't let her go on... As soon as it started, we weren't even moving- she was screaming her head off. I thought, 'Great'. When we actually started moving, she threw up on the lady in front. When the ride finished (and she was exiting and Mum was trying to offer her tissues etc) it turned out the lady was my English teacher! She looked horrified. Any other day, fine. But it's so close to parent's evening. PARENT'S EVENING. Bribery's okay right?

Tangled up- not anymore

Do you hate when this happens? ^ Especially after opening up that suitcase- when you're after that one particular necklace. To find it with a million knots in and tangled to another 3 necklaces. How about a way to stop this? Well I've found the answer.

A straw.
Use a straw to prevent necklaces from tangling
Time to get organised. Simply undo the clasp, thread a straw through the accessory and re-clasp. So clever! Well one extra tip. Don't forget to take the straw off before you go out :)

Meow!

diy cat-toe shoes

This tutorial is great for rejuvenating those pumps which are rarely worn. Waste not, want not.
For this tutorial you need:
  • Pumps (or trainers, preferably of a brown colour)
  • A thin & thick paintbrushs
  • Black acrylic paint
  • DecoColor opaque paint marker in white & black
  • Ribbon
  • Masking tape
  • Newspaper (Optional) if you're a messy artist!
Method:
  1. Tape the ribbon around your pumps, near the toe. Practically at the front of the hole. If that makes sense. Look at the picture. You may want to lay newspaper on the floor if you're messy with paint.
  2. Using the thick paintbrush, paint half of the front of the shoe black. With the black acrylic paint. Try not to make too much mess- as you'll be cleaning afterwards!
  3. Peel the tape off and get out your thin paintbrush now. A cat needs ears to hear, so paint two, small, triangles onto your animal.
  4. Get out your DecoColor opaque marker pen and ink symmetrical, white dots for eyes. Do the same but smaller triangles instead.
  5. Tidy up and admire your new accessories! Remember Cinderella is an example that one pair of shoes can change your life.
Look who's back back, back again 'gain. Yes moi: Not out partying, or getting drunk, or losing my V at V or going to a Justin Bieber concert. Nope, I sit at home and blog :) I won't be taking a break for a while!

Sunday 3 March 2013

Hi everyone!

Won't be long till I'm back posting, Tuesday evening :) Get ready...
