Posh fashion awards 2013: Nominate me!!!

Hi Stylistas!

I've decided to enter the Posh Fashion Awards 2013 as I did miss another blog award competition earlier this year (thanks to exams) so this is another go for ArrayO'Style.

So if you click the picture on the left side of the blog it will take you to the survey page, or additionally visit
Thank you all! xo

Cara Delevingne: Dwarf insult

She may be short [according to Marc Jacobs] but her bank account continues to soar upwards

Love her or hate her, Cara Delevingne is everywhere. The model came into the spotlight late last year; but with starring in Mulberry's latest campaign, it's unlikely the star is going to fade out just yet. But, do you remember that time when the 'Model of the Year 2012' was deemed a dwarf? By none other than Marc Jacobs... ouchies. He even banned her from walking in his Autumn/Winter 2012-13 shows as he thought she would stick out amongst the other girls. Cara is stated as being 5'9 but she's almost an identical height when standing next to Alber Elbaz (who is 5ft3 to 5ft5).

But now he has subbed Cara a 'role model' (yes role models are those who drop drugs on the street) and now feels 'bad' about the incident so he frequently puts her in his shows. Shows what can happen after you get famous. Before it no-one cares, but after everyone wants a piece of you. Fickle world it is...

Beach bag essentials

Top 10 Beach Bag Essentials!

Okay summer, stop arriving fashionably late for another year. Yes, us Brits are still at school- envious of other students around the world. Who have a longer holiday than us, undeniably better weather than us (Unless you're in Antartica or whatever, which you probably still have better weather than us) and who are currently off school already. Go on gloat some more over your Instagrams. Anyways. Time to be prepared *going into a random Lion King song now* for the 'sun'. I'm jet setting off this summer; so there will be 2 weeks of no blogging. Maybe instagramming if I manage to stop taking pictures of food (unlikely then). So, I've compiled a list of the ten things I feel are essential for the holidays.

1. Beach bag (Obvs).

Okay so this is slightly obvious, but it gives you another perfect excuse to look at lush handbags. I'm sure you've probably seen this bag before, but if not it's a ClaireaBella bag; if you browse through my blog labels you'll find out more and see more bags! I've been awaiting a perfect time to use her and a holiday is the perfect excuse to. Saying that, I have a bit of a crush on the Victoria's Secret bags. If they had a store closer to me I'd definitely be in there everyday! You need a bag big enough to carry all your bits in, but it needs to be lightweight for travelling. I guess it could double up as a travelling bag (idea for another post).

2. Books

As you can see my current read is 'Mockingjay' by Suzanne Collins. Part of 'The Hunger Games' trilogy. I haven't finished it yet, barely even started. I think 2/3 chapters in? I read it before my exams started- so I kinda forgot about it when revising. Catching fire was amazing and I cannot wait for the film! It's just a traditional thing to see someone reading on a beach. My english teacher says she can get through 6 long books in a 2 week holiday! There's plenty of awesome new books out there too for young adults, besides the sagas if they're not your thing. Such as 'Perks of being a wallflower' and 'The fault in our stars' are both popular and highly photographed over Tumblr. There's also the classics like 'The Great Gatsby' if you enjoyed the film as much as I did, you should get into the book. Ones I really liked last year were 'Losing Lila', 'Starters' and 'The Look'. If you're struggling to find one visit http://www.goodreads.com or http://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk/ to search! There's also your local library to search.

3. Magazines

For those who don't read books and prefer something more colourful and shorter; magazines are great to pack. My favourite is Company magazine, but any will do. Pack a few in that beach bag and get reading along! Of course Vogue magazine is the holy fashion bible. You should also check out Vogue's books, where they've got the front covers permeating the pages.

4. Perfume

Summer is the perfect time to experiment with perfume and find your signature scent. My favorite scent at the minute is 'Viva La Juicy' by Juicy Couture. I first bought it just for the bottle, for a little room decor, but I tried it and fell in love with it! My Mum calls it the 'boyfriend repellent' though. To be honest my personality is boyfriend repellent as it is! I like to think it's the opposite :P course I wouldn't tell Mum that aha. I'm eagerly awaiting the 'Viva La Noir' version of the scent. The scent doesn't strike me as summery or fruity for that matter, it's kinda sexy smelling. Plus Sasha Pivovarova is perfect in the ad campaign. Hollister can be heavily relied on for a beach scent- Laguna Beach is the one to smell if you're going to check out Hollister. It's quite fruity, I think it Jasmine in it which gives it that 'girliness' to it. There's always the classics like Princess by Vera Wang, Daisy by Marc Jacobs and Miss Dior Cherie. But if you want a body mist Victoria's Secret is also one to check out. For me, Juicy Couture is tantalising my smell buds atm.

5. Batiste dry shampoo

Rumour has it Danielle Peaser and Eleanor Calder use this hair wonder spray. Dry shampoo is such a clever invention which all girls should own. Basically if you don't have time to wash your hair, you spray this into your hair, rub it in and bobs your uncle. Fresh and new. Plus they have a sweet, lasting smell too. We've all had sticky hair on holiday and here's the solution. Spritz away to fresher hair! Plus you can try the product free when you save your recipt. Send it to Batiste and they'll refund it for you! Quick you've got till the 30th June! https://www.facebook.com/batistedryshampoopage/app_357049577745207

6. Spot sticks

I did a review on Melvita products some time ago (http://arrayostyle.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/melvita-cleanser-review.html) , but still use them to get squeaky clean, spot free skin. They're very reliable and organic. So not to doddle on about them, you can check out the links for more info. Additionally, check out the 'Skincare' label on my blog for more bits. The Melvita spot zapper which I used, isn't on Amazon. But Tanya Burr has recommended Simple's spot zapper and the 'Australian Bodycare spot stick' so if she's recommended them, they must work! Plus they're small enough to put in your pocket :)

7. Sun cream
Don't forget the sun cream! Unless you want to look like a tomato. You need to be wearing at least SPF 30 for the heat and reapply this a couple of times a day. If you're heaps of fun, I think we've all applied sun cream in inappropriate shapes onto our siblings backs. Sun burns lead to skin cancer, and skin cancer isn't nice at all. Past experience a week of headaches and irritable skin isn't nice.
8. Music

Music makes the people, come together. Yeaaaahhhh. Yes I have an iPod, cos I'm so old school. Once you've got your music playing device- you need to load it up with albums. The tracks we all should have on our pods are: Blurred lines, Need you 100%, White Noise, Get lucky and La La La. There's probably too many to list but AlunaGeorge and Disclosure are probably the artists I want to hear more from.

9. Shoes glorious shoes!

Daisy dukes bikinis on top. I'm not even sure why those lyrics came into my head, it's not even related to shoes. Anyway, if you haven't got the most basic part of your summer wardrobe, you kinda need to get your flops on! Gladiator sandals are always in for summer shoes. But never, EVER commit the ultimate sandal fashion sin. Socks with sandals. Never, ever. EVER do it.

10. Last but not least sunglasses!

Well you need these to cover those drowsy, tired eyes after a long flight. Now these sunnies I've discovered are celeb style, but not on a celebrity budget. Check them out and choose some to cover those eyes and act like an undercover superstar on your holiday.

This has been a bit of a delayed article. I was originally thinking of doing a Youtube video for this. Maybe when I get more time next week. Course comment below if you'd like one :)
Happy summer!

Newsletter Sign Up #GetConnected

Newsletter Sign Up!

Hola Stylistas!

Basically I'll be starting some sort of monthly/fortnightly newsletter. I'm thinking of maybe a mini magazine? Something along those lines which will keep you updated with ArrayO'Style. I'm also thinking maybe take a newsletter topic and do a lot of articles based on that throughout the blog. Along those lines...

To opt in to the 'Urgent Message of Madness' I like to call the newsletter email arrayostyle@hotmail.co.uk :)

Eye make-up tutorial

How to make your eyes more stunning than they already are:

Modelled by the stunningly beautiful Adriana Lima <   Yes she's gorgeous already, but her eyes really do stand out. It may be the fact that Brazillians are normally brown eyed and her colour combination just stands out. It could be photoshop. Or it's likely to be perfect make-up.

Make-up: the solution to all your impurities. (I sound a bit vitriolic today, it's not intentional!). There's one make-up tip that the celebs constantly use to make those bobby dazzlers, dazzle. And it's still not Photoshop (although lets be honest Photoshop is rarely unused in the celebrity world). But with this tip, you can make those eyes even more stunning when your free 30 day Photoshop trial expires. :)

If you look very closely, you can see that Adriana wears orange based shades. Orange provides a contrast to the eyes- that really makes the colour pop. Especially blue eyes. Orange hues can really warm up your facial features and bring out the colour of your eyes and skin.
Tips:

  • For a more softer, subtle look stay within the eyelid and go for a lighter shade of orange with a shimmer. Maybe even pinker tones.
  • Keep the orange shade below the eye lid.
  • Keep it minimal and blending is key. When blending, smudge right above the eyelid.
  • And always test at home first before wearing out!
  • Don't go Wotsit orange :)

Summer Jobs for Teenagers - Make money now!

Okay, so most teenagers search forever to get Saturday jobs. I'm in that boat too. Cue Internet comes to the rescue. Yes Internet: The money making home hub of the world has put teenagers in business. From only working two days on a review site, I could afford a few new books. To pass on my knowledge to you, I'd like to welcome you all to 'SliceThePie'. SliceThePie is a music website, where you listen to a 90 second song (which goes very quickly) and you write a mini review about what you've just heard. You then get paid per review.

The review isn't as scary as it sounds. You can write a couple of lines on the songs hit potential, the singers and the instruments used. For someone who thinks One Direction are amazing, the knowledge doesn't have to be particular. Just say what you like. I must add that the songs are really random. One day you can get a lot of rap then a lot of rock and roll. You then get paid per review you write, ranging from $0.10 to $0.30. I normally get paid around the middle at $0.18 ish. This may sound miniscule, but considering the songs are short you can review quite a bit at once. Specially if you're a bit of an Internet-aholic who spents lots of time on here! I racked up just over $10 for a few weekend reviews. The currency does alter and you can pay out your balance (through PayPal) anytime you like.

Intrigued? Ready to sign up? Or just so desperate for those new shoes you'd do anything do buy them?

Well check out: http://www.slicethepie.com/?wyd=574945

Enjoy scouting the next Beyonce!

Fathers Day recipe

Chocolate truffle egg box

Fathers Day is tomorrow! Who's got their presents sorted? If not there's plenty of time to get down to the shops and get some ingredients to make him something spectacular to maintain your 'Daddy's Girl' title. Or there's always the dreaded prospect of waking up EARLY on a SUNDAY to get the ingredients. Whichever you prefer.
Here's a recipe for chocolate truffles; which only requires 5 ingredients (4 if your Dad's allergic to nuts). It's likely you've got some of the ingredients in the cupboards anyway.

This recipe takes 25 minutes (20 minutes preparation and 5 minutes cooking) so plenty of time for that jog to the shops!

Ingredients:

  • 150ml Double cream
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50g Chopped hazelnuts
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 100g milk chocolate chopped into small pieces
Equipment:
  • Mini paper cases
  • Egg box
  • Ribbon (Optional)
Method:
  1. Heat the cream in a pan, when it gets hot remove from the heat and leave to stand for 1 minute. Add the chopped chocolate into the pan and mix it together, until it's smooth, glossy and melted. Pour mixture into a bowl- then chill into the fridge until it's firm.
  2. Now the chocolate is firm, use two teaspoons to scoop out 12 walnut-sized truffles. Roll half the truffles in cocoa powder and the other half in hazelnuts. Of course if he's allergic to nuts you could try icing sugar. Place the truffles into the mini paper cases, then transfer these to the egg box. Tie up the ribbon and give to someone you love <3

Gucci is developing a Make Up Line, apparently

Gucci is developing a Make Up Line, rumour has it

Although if the rumours are true, you'll have to wait till 2014. Gucci is already guilty of satisfying us with a portfolio of successful fragrances including, Gucci Flora (Which has to be my favourite ad campaign ever!) and Gucci Premiere, where Blake Lively is the face of the brand. But now the premium, fashion brand is set to have a make-up line in the pipeline for 2014.

Competiting with the decadent Dior and the classy Chanel make-up line's which are already booming, we're anticipating flawless foundations and lavish lipsticks!

And Gucci at affordable prices:

Cara Delevingne as a bubba!

Cara Delevingne as a bubba!

Well kinda. Who knew her first photoshoot was for Italian Vogue?

This 10 year old looks familiar! Although the Philip Treacy hat is covering her trademark brows, we can still see that Cara started off by going straight into Vogue, being shot by none other than Bruce Weber. I can just sense the envy of the models who took years just trying to get one cover. Well Cara's the boss.
In the issue, she's modelling Treacy's designs and Treacy requested her to model for him. Oosh, gotta love connections eh!

Cara Delevingne & Rita Ora- Taking over Topshop?

Cara Delevingne & Rita Ora- Taking over Topshop?

CaRita, fashion's cult couple, have shared everything. From their sensational street style, to sharing Rihanna's tattoo guy. Now the wifeys are in talks of sharing a joint clothing range; with none other than Topshop.

A source said, "Rita and Cara have been talking about the ideas for weeks now. Cara has great fashion industry contacts and Rita loves her clothes and keeps up with the trends." It's also rumoured that Rita is on a 'friend basis' with Topshop heiress Chloe Green and has mentioned the idea to her, in hope she'll pass this idea on to her powerful Daddy, Topshop boss Philip.

The source also mentioned that the pair's collection would want to emulate the success of lines by Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss's successful Topshop line... Is it also valid that Rihanna is into her second collection for River Island? The pair do use Rihanna's tattoo 'go to guy' and Rita is often compared to Rihanna.... Hmm.

Whilst the project is still at the sketchbook stage, you cannot deny that the pair are known for their headline-grabbing spontaneity. Don't forget that Cara has also registered a trademark on her name- for future money making antics in the future. If it does work out, I can imagine: kitschy tees, retro onesies and embellished sneakers in the line.

One Direction Perfume Launch!

One Direction Perfume Launch!

Here's the gossip on the boy band's latest scent.
One Direction
What words would you use to describe a perfume made by boys, for girls? Playful, girly and according to Harry Styles 'smells like a summer's day'. Yes indeedy, One Direction have taken the fashionable, leap from singers to a brand by releasing 'Our Moment'. The pretty in pink bottle, crowned with a pink tulle crown, is perfect for fangirling royalty. The scent will be hitting beauty counters this Autumn; I imagine the Prince Charming's will make a lot of fans Princesses. Of course we will now all know what to wear for their highly, anticipated concerts.

The boys have worked together with perfume experts to culminate the finished product- based on all their favourite scents. Directioners will smell flirty and fun according to the boys. The fantastic fragrance is a fusion of: pink grapefruit, wild berries, delicate jasmine and a touch of white patchouli.

Wouldn't you be a happy Princesses if they'd 'Kiss you' if you purchased a bottle of perfectness?

Free iTunes Apps

Get 'Appy!

What I love about apps nowadays is that they're free (or so they say...). But the main thing is, before phones you had to wait awkwardly- pretending you're on your phone (with actual texts but normally you have no credit to text!). At least now with apps you can sit playing on something. Point made. Today I came across some free fashionista apps on Amazon and thought maybe some of you  would like to check them out and give feedback on them.

So, let's get 'Appy! Freebies:

And the funny, under £1 apps!

And your own private diary!

Guess who's back back. !

Well I've got another two weeks ish till my next exam so it won't be as constant but, let's bring on the blog posts! And as I say again, thank you for your patience and loyalty!

Unfortunately this means I have missed the date for the Cosmo Blog Awards which is a shame as I didn't get through for the Company ones :( Anyway. Summer is on its way- meaning posts all the time. :)

Think 5 more weeks and it's over. 6 Weeks of bliss. But if you're abroad you're probably on holiday right now, you lucky ones!
