So much has happened recently in the fashion world!
Let's start with probably the youngest
fashion designer ever, Suri Cruise! At 7 years old she's on the prowl, with a
£1.5 million fashion line on the way. Watch out Harper Beckham- when they're
teenagers can you image the drama in the fashion stakes between them?
The brand will be called 'Suri' which I can
imagine took ages to think of. Pun intended. The collection will be unveiled
this Autumn in a New York department store and the designs will be aimed at
little girls (likely to be around Suri's age, do you reckon VB would buy the
label for Harper then?). A source says, 'This is a nice hobby for her, it's
certainly not going to take over her life. Most girls dream of being able to
make their own clothes, this just means her drawings will now become a reality.'
'It'll be interesting to see how it pans out,
there's nothing around quite like it.'
Yes most girls dream of their own
labels, but don't have the money or name for it. So I think that quote is making them seem a tad 'showy
offy' in my books. Could be wrong, but they could've reworded that to make it
sound like they weren't making every other girl jealous.
Taken her age, Suri's sketches might not be as accurate as wanted.
So Mum Katie Holmes and her STYLIST Jeanne Yang are also on board to help. A lot
of people have seemed to bring the word 'Exploitation' into effect here...
The initial idea was for Suri to have her own fashion blog, which
might not have worked out as I doubt a child in their second year of school
would be able to spell, punctuate and use a computer. Maybe drawing seemed more
appropriate as anyone of any age can draw. The plans then extended as Suri
expressed her special designs for her clothes.
