Fathers Day recipe

Chocolate truffle egg box

Fathers Day is tomorrow! Who's got their presents sorted? If not there's plenty of time to get down to the shops and get some ingredients to make him something spectacular to maintain your 'Daddy's Girl' title. Or there's always the dreaded prospect of waking up EARLY on a SUNDAY to get the ingredients. Whichever you prefer.
Here's a recipe for chocolate truffles; which only requires 5 ingredients (4 if your Dad's allergic to nuts). It's likely you've got some of the ingredients in the cupboards anyway.

This recipe takes 25 minutes (20 minutes preparation and 5 minutes cooking) so plenty of time for that jog to the shops!

Ingredients:

  • 150ml Double cream
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50g Chopped hazelnuts
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 100g milk chocolate chopped into small pieces
Equipment:
  • Mini paper cases
  • Egg box
  • Ribbon (Optional)
Method:
  1. Heat the cream in a pan, when it gets hot remove from the heat and leave to stand for 1 minute. Add the chopped chocolate into the pan and mix it together, until it's smooth, glossy and melted. Pour mixture into a bowl- then chill into the fridge until it's firm.
  2. Now the chocolate is firm, use two teaspoons to scoop out 12 walnut-sized truffles. Roll half the truffles in cocoa powder and the other half in hazelnuts. Of course if he's allergic to nuts you could try icing sugar. Place the truffles into the mini paper cases, then transfer these to the egg box. Tie up the ribbon and give to someone you love <3
